What is the best way to make home made bread?
I have an unusual affinity for bread. I currently have one of those automatic bread makers. I’m not asking for recipes, per se, because I have several I use and like very much. I guess I am asking should I nix the mixer and try to roll out my own dough and such. How difficult is that? Is the final product that much better than using an automatic bread maker?

Mix the flour, salt and yeast in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre, then add the oil and water, and mix well. If the dough seems a little stiff, add 1-2 tbsp water, mix well then tip onto a lightly floured work surface and knead. Once the dough is satin-smooth, place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Leave to rise for 1 hour until doubled in size or place in the fridge overnight.
Line a baking tray with baking parchment. Knock back the dough, then gently mould the dough into a ball. Place it on the baking parchment to prove for a further hour until doubled in size.
Heat oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7. Dust the loaf with flour and cut a cross about 6cm long into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife. Bake for 25-30 mins until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Cool on a wire rack.
500g strong white flour , plus extra for dusting
2 tsp salt
7g sachet fast-action yeast
3 tbsp olive oil
300ml water
Any simple recipe will guide you in a right way. Yeast, butter, flour, sugar, salt, etc. My uncle makes these croissant muffins and they pretty amazing! What he does is he makes it as if he were making croissants, but instead of flooding them like croissants, he mixes it into a huge ball and puts them in a greased muffin pan. I hope this works for you because it’s delicious!
Well I don’t have one of those, but guess what my mother-in-law has one and she doesn’t even use it!! I like making my own and use the hard labor I do to make the perfect bread just like my mom and grandma did..and it turn out just great all the time..today I made homemade rolls and they were delicious!!!!..=)
Does your machine have a "dough" setting? Make up the dough, pull it from the machine and make up rolls, or loaves to your hearts desire. That’s how I did it till I started larger batches, then I just multiplied that recipe and put it in my bigger machine for kneading.
Yummmm, made cloverleaf rolls for thanksgiving. During winter I buy almost no commercial bread because I bake it all, loaves, rolls, and hamburger buns (there’s a trick).
