I am looking for a good simple bread recipe for plain white bread that doesn’t require using a bread machine or bread flour. Can anyone give me a good recipe?

I have a sourdough bread machine recipe to try. It calls for sourdough starter which I have a batch started. Now it calls for 2 cups bread flour. Would you see any reason why I couldn’t use wheat bread flour as a substitute to make it a bit healthy? Also would it effect the taste any and if so how?

time and temp for oven – if machine is for white/ or basic bread and light crust
what other changes – if machine recipe is
1/2 cup water
1 cup milk
7 tbsp unsalted butter
1 1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
8 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
4 cups bread flour
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 cup chopped walnuts, lightly toasted

ty in advance for your help

All the recipes call for bread flour I’ve looked in the stores and no one has that all they have is all purpose flour. I assume you can use that in bread recipes for bread machines?

I’ve doubled this recipe before with no issues, but this time it rose so much that it overflowed and went everywhere! The only thing I changed was the yeast. I used yeast from a jar instead of from a packet. Is that enough to ruin the whole recipe?

1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package bread machine yeast
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt

Hey,

I purchased the Emerilware 3lb bread machine.

Problem is that I want to use more recipes than the ones that come with it, but none are 3-pound loaf recipes.

Does anyone know any good websites or recipes for 3-pound loaves?

One recipe I really like is:
1 cup Warm Water
4 teaspoons oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon dry milk
3 cups Bread Flour
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
for a 2lb loaf, anyone know how I would change that to 3lb?

Thanks!
thanks for the response.

problem with that is that that is a whole lot of yeast.
In the emeril recipe book that came with it, it looks like even 3lb loaves get 2t of yeast.

anyone know of any good bread machine recipes for white bread that uses all purpose flour instead of bread flour?

I recently bought a book of bread recipes for my bread machine. However, they’re calling for gluten. What is it and where can I get it? Is it necessary, or is it already in the bread flour?

I recently bought a breadmaker…but I can’t find any special bread flour in my supermarket. Someone mentioned that it depends what the percentage of protien is in your bread. Mine has about 11.2% (I worked it out before..), will that do?
